Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Preserve is a 9,000-acre nature conservation located in the heart of Sonoma County at 39400 Clinton Keith Rd, Murrieta, CA 92562. The terrain is diverse and so is the wildlife. You can hike the trails and learn about the animals that call this place home. The visitor center is open to the public and offers a wide variety of information. Visitors are also welcome to explore the natural history of the area and the surrounding communities.

The reserve was created in several stages. The two parcels, totaling 3,100 acres, contain a combined area of 13 square kilometers. The intervening parcels were purchased by The Nature Conservancy in the 1980s and by the State of California in the 1990s. The reserve is managed cooperatively, with the help of local partners. Biological resource management includes prescribed fires and habitat restoration programs. Visitors enjoy the 40-mile trail system.
